When It Rains, things begin to grow.

What did I learn this week? Hm. Let me concentrate for a minute as a week seems far too long some times.

I learnt that I must remember what is positive about having a new part time job, even though certain aspects of it has been getting to me. It’s all in the mind I suppose, but when cold sweats start to happen just at the sight of the building I work in, something has to change. Thankfully I asked for some solutions yesterday and an ex-colleague of mine came up with a solution that could earn me more than twice as much per hour, which seems a much wiser thing to do – if I can get past the interview.

I have learnt that procrastination is a bad thing, but that I am a master of it. I think I am the world champion procrastinator, but I am at least managing my disease quite well. ( I have been writing far too much about Parkinson’s Disease the last week!)

I think the biggest thing that I do to get myself to take action is when I feel an obligation to someone else to do it. But I also discovered today that the simple action of my manager asking ME to track my OWN performance has given me an amazing spur.

There are two ways to go if I am responsible for measuring my own progress;
I can fake it and tell him I am better than I am.
Or I can just work harder because I don’t like the measurements that I see.

Knowing that phone stats and everything else can be double checked and verified, as can the post log and my managers appointment book, there is really no point in doing anything other than report things truthfully.

Which meant that today, when I was intent on not even making a single call, I still made enough calls to book one appointment. So at least I achieve ONE of my objectives.

Self policing is a powerful tool when you know that lies, false statements and anything else not true can be found out. Unless it doesn’t bother you.

As for my achievement, my tax return is still outstanding, my projects that were behind schedule are now mostly back on track and I have generated far more business opportunity for myself than I thought possible.

I also have a elance project to post about 30 tips for someone – I’m on it!

When it comes to car insurance, car insurance companies are not assuring!

Had to get my car insurance renewed this week and these car insurance companies really do hire some really dim representatives into these car insurance call centre jobs.

I admit, I don't have a UK drivers license. I have an EEC license as I am a Norwegian citizen and thus a part of the Extended Economic Community which pretty much includes the EU countries, Norway, Lichtenstein and a rock in the North Sea somewhere.

This throws the inexperienced, and politically and geographically challenged high school drop out answering the phone as they can't find EEC or Norway on the African map. Hello, Norway is in the North sea by the way, right next to Sweden? Finland? Lapland where Santa lives? Ah I knew that one would get you there. No I have never seen a polar bear. To me this is really funny, but to pretty much everybody from any other part of the world Norway is not such a big part of their lives as I and the other 5 million Norwegians like to think.

When stumped, Norwegians will try to tell other unfortuntate non-Norwegians 3 or 4 things to explain about what Norway is:

- The vikings ( they raped and rampaged through England and Ireland a thousand years ago )
- The nobel peace price ( yup! the vikings from Norway are such a peace loving people though Alfred Nobel when he created his price funds, that I'll make the lovely people of Norway responsible for determining who should get it)
- The oil ( we're rich, but we're saving it until we're old so that we can pay for the care of the elderly - in other words those that are in power now )
and if pushed further, there is nice nature too.

Oh, and according to the hitch hikers guide to the galaxy, it is the most beautiful country in the world - but not alot of Norwegians know that.

What this has to do with my Friday progress? Not alot but then again I didn't achieve much this week either.

I wanted a week of peace, I got it - in the form of tonsilitis. Then I had the new part time job to get into which is proving interesting. At least it is close to where I live.
I have had a chance to work on two of my other projects - the more pressing ones, but I have mostly had to settle for recovering either in bed or sitting in the sofa reading ( the tv gives me headaches )

Next week I have to tackle my tax returns and a few other projects that are far too far behind schedule.

Ipod to tell your lung, cancer isn't nice

working on a bunch of projects, managing an even bigger bunch of freelancers on scriptlance and researching a whopping bunch of stuff for a couple of people online and offline.

It's been a week that could have done with a bit more relaxation and calmness in it but I expect to get that back next week.

Things certainly haven't worked out exactly as I expected - I have one person desperate to give me work - and I keep on forgetting to call her! and then a massive project of me just fell through, but at least that solves my problem with not having enough time. And the stuff I have created can be reused anyways.

And that's it really - can't think of anything else. Productive but tiring i suppose is a good way of putting it. And the publishing business is taking a bit of a dip below what I would have liked, but again our high ticket items are selling really well so it compensates somewhat.

Next week I will concentrate on my the projects remaining in my pipeline & start my new part time job on Monday.

I need a hot drink or something and then to bed - I am shivering something serious it's stupid!

sometimes I just have to make fun of 'experts'

Would you believe it ? The nitro affiliates and Tellman Knudson have FINALLY copped on to my TWO year development of accountability which I have managed to trace back to an idea that is at least a century old.
But thankfully, the incredible nitro team has managed to realize that accountability is a good thing. Glad you professionals finally caught up with a backward nerd from little old Norway.

But I guess for every fed up nerd like me there are 10 newbies that are new to the concept.
Anyway.

I had my meeting on Monday and it went really well – we managed to achieve more than our objectives and by Wednesday it was pretty much all ready to roll. Plus we had an idea to develop some content for another project of hers.

I also found out that I had some spare time and to my great surprise when I asked people if they wanted to use my time they snapped it up. Which was handy.

I’ve also got a whole bunch of other niches and software solutions to work on which is why I have been so incredibly busy.

I have done some more time studies on these niches and I’ve managed to cut the time down quite considerably.

Lessons learnt this week?

I can’t believe it’s only a week since last Friday! I have done so much so far this year it is incredible it’s not even a week old!

Things are falling into place, that’s all I have to say. Excellent.

Next week?
I can’t even think that far ahead – I want to sort out my accounts and my tax returns this weekend – Only I need to get some of the stuff to Kim sorted by Friday. That’s it really.
